A discussion on mental health and how having God in your life can free you from the stresses of the world.
Men have a problem speaking about their feelings because ever since we were young boys we have been told to shake it off, stop your crying, be a man... And it really just carried over with us as we went into and on through manhood. So I do believe that it’s perceived as a weakness or even emasculating. Which is also why a lot of men won’t profess their faith to Jesus, or even start a relationship with him. Which couldn’t be farther from the truth. There is nothing weak or emasculating about any of it. Men are humans, with feelings, emotions, problems and pain. We need to have that allowance to speak about what we are going through without any stigmas, and that starts in the home. With a father that is open and encouraging to their sons to expressive themselves to what’s going on internally. And to be honest, men aren’t judged by opening up as much as they think they are. In fact, I think it’s safe to say that when a man hears another man being open about what he is going through, we look at them with sympathy, and understanding because we may have those same things going on that we bottle up. And probably wish we could be as bold, to open up ourselves.
I certainly was one that held things inside. In my life, I have gone through many trials, and have been beat down by this brutal world, time after time after time. But nobody would have known it, because I always seemed happy, and positive and assured that all things were good. But inside, though I was all of those thing, I was also depressed and sometimes thought about wanting it all to be over.
Today I certainly express myself. I don’t keep things inside. But the main reason is because I have Jesus Christ in my life. He takes away worry and anxiety. Living your life for Christ and following his path, and having the Holy Spirit inside you changes you. It makes you want to live a righteous life, a life without hate, lying, envy, jealously, fornication and theft. Instead you live with love and honesty and morals that are righteous.
I want to encourage men to drop their guards and be open to what is going on inside themselves. And especially be open to a relationship with God, and so many doors will open.
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4:6-7 NKJV
“Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’”
Isaiah 41:10 NKJV

The waters closed in over me to take my life; the deep surrounded me; weeds were wrapped about my head at the roots of the mountains. I went down to the land whose bars closed upon me forever; yet you brought up my life from the pit, O Lord my God. When my life was fainting away, I remembered the Lord, and my prayer came to you, into your holy temple.
